Right, it would probably be better to put Adsense on there instead of promoting other people's Kindle books.

I was just thinking that if I started building the site before the book was ready, then that would be one way to earn a little money from people who decided they wanted to purchase the book.

I'm seriously thinking, too, that this could be a great idea for people who flip websites. You can fill a blog up for at least a year or two full of posts, then put links on the side to your self-published books at Amazon.

Once you get things set up, then you can sell the whole blog and put the buyer's Amazon affiliate link pointing at your book, and arrange that they must agree to keep it pointed at YOUR book, rather than changing to somebody else's. Now, make sure that your book is priced competitively, so they actually get some sales.

In the end, they'll be the ones to drive traffic, they'll get their Amazon commissions and be happy, and YOU'RE the one getting the book royalties. Do 1 - 2 of these per month or every other month, and you could truly have a passive income that rivals many online marketers.

So many ways to make money with this stuff, it's hard to figure out which way is the best. However, just try one or two and you'll eventually figure out what works best for you.

I think the problem here is if you flip a site then you sell all rights and the new owner can remove your links and replace them with their own affiliate links that means they can point them also to something else.

SO true...

Just start asking to yourself the RIGHT questions (= winner questions):

- How can I use this information to build a profitable business??

- How can I convert this idea into a practical and doable action plan??

- How can I transform this free (but killer) PD content into my own successful product??

...

Then just listen to your brain...

Yes, they could, but if they're making money then they probably won't even consider it. You would have to have your book priced well enough, and everything laid out well enough to get people more interested in your book than trying to find a deal on another one.

The other alternative is to just hold these and drive the traffic yourself, gathering ALL of the money instead.

That works too.

"He" knows...

The following example of how to listen to your brain has been floating around the internet for awhile, but is worth repeating in the context of coming up with new ideas for using PD information:

"You are driving along on a wild stormy night. You pass by a bus stop, and you see three people waiting for the bus:
1. An elderly woman who will die without medical treatment.
2. An old friend who once saved your life.
3. The perfect man or woman you have been dreaming about.
Which one would you choose, knowing that there could only be one passenger in your car?

This is a moral/ethical dilemma that was once actually used as part of a job application.

You could pick up the elderly woman because she is going to die and thus, you should save her first; or you could take the friend because he once saved your life and this would be the perfect chance to pay him back. However, you may never be able to find your perfect dream lover again.
What would you do?

The candidate who was hired (out of 200 applicants) had no trouble coming up with his answer.

(Before you read the answer, once again think about what you would do.)
What did the candidate say? “I would give my car keys to my old friend and let him take the elderly woman to the hospital. I would stay behind and wait for the bus with the man/woman of my dreams.”

Sometimes we gain more if we are able to think “outside of the box.”

WOW I have just stumbled on a killer url to pdf tool and its blow me away
https://online.primopdf.com/Default.aspx

I used it to make this thread into a pdf doc so I can read later

I have also purchased kens wso and would like to see wow wow wow you hypnotized me with your package and knowledge.

Ken I work over in Mallorca in summer not far from you.

Anyhow here some brainstorming

You allow people to copy and convert this thread and any other thread in the warrior forum via this link https://online.primopdf.com/Default.aspx

They can not sell the thread as a pdf product but they can give it away free as a pdf report

all the people in the thread will get lots of traffic because in the pdf doc links are enabled.

Try it

Thehypnotist

ps

allen please look into this idea
please add a link on the thread page so that it opens up another window so people can copy and paste the url into the pdf grabber

You can download also their free pdf creator primo-pdf here at:

so that you don't have 10 single pdf files (one per page).

Hey y'all,

I've been visiting this forum sporadically for a
while now and I've always found an answer to
my questions. Over the past several months,
though, I swear I've hit gold. I've purchased
two WSO's that have helped me finally connect
the dots so I can get going strong with IM and
product creation.

Kneb's PD product blew me away. It is absolutely
fabulous! Seriously, I read straight through with
my chinned dropped mumbling, "Wow. Just wow."

And then Kneb answered me with another gem.

It really is one of those "step-by-simple-step" guides,
and talk about hand holding. Kneb spells it all out
1,2,3. Everything I need is right there to turn
public domain information into some truly serious
passive income. Finally!

I'm so excited about this. I can't wait to clear
my desk of a few deadlines so I can give this all
my attention (and action) I need to finally stop
running in circles.

(By the way, the other WSO I purchased was Amy
Bass' Niche Blogger. Another fantastic product!)

Anyway, thank you Kneb! And to all Warriors,
thank you for such a fabulous forum - especially to
those contributing on this thread.

Best,
Pam

Lol, if anyone can't read this thread and come out with AT LEAST one new project, then you need to wake up. There are so many possibilities that we could all do the same thing and come out with so many different results.

I like the idea of popshops, but I hate the idea of relying on a third party like that in case they go belly up or other issues. Is there another script or product that I can install on my website that can use the data feeds that these affiliates already have?

Or....take the next step. Become a Kindle book publisher yourself, using PD content. More info can be found at forums.digitaltextplatform.com/dtpforums/index.jspa which is the Amazon FAQ on publishing Kindle books...... It's mostly a matter of formatting the text correctly. There are about 50 Kindle versions of "Moby Dick" listed in the kindle books section. The point is, it's a fine source of ongoing income, limited mainly by the number of books you're willing to convert and upload. Once YOUR version of the book is uploaded to Amazon, they sell it over and over... Plus, I think the link to YOUR book, posted on YOUR blog, would be a good PR8 permalink, which can't hurt anything....

Plus, I think the link to YOUR book, posted on YOUR blog, would be a good PR8 permalink, which can't hurt anything....
Yeah, getting all of your PD books onto Kindle is the end goal (along with self-publishing), but that was just thinking out loud about what to do while you're working on getting the ebook ready.

If I find a PD book published before 1923 is it considered automatically part of the PD regardless who copyrights the book after?

I have a situation where the PD book was published in 1908 but yet another company copyrighted the book later (1984).

Dan, the book could be a reprint of that book in question. So still the original book, published before 1923 in the USA is in the public domain.

Kneb,

I found a printed book in public domain and was published before 1923. I know, it's automatically in public domain.

But do I still need to hire someone to check if it's really in public domain? Any company or law firm can you recommend?

I saw couple of them in amazon.com and based on the listing, it's indeed published before 1923.

Thanks!

If you can wait a bit longer, you can order also Copyright Searches from the Library of Congress. That needs awhile, but you will get your results "officially" - Hynak & Associates is faster but I guess a bit more expensive.

Was wondering if someone could give some advice on this who have done it successfully before when creating an ebook for sale:

When creating an ebook to sell and several PD books are combined to make the final product, is it best to just combine the materials 'as is' with a bibliography at the end, or to completely rewrite all the material, or just change some of the words using a thesaurus?

What have you found to be the best method? Thank you.

Combining different content into one book can confuse the reader when the style of writing changes from one chapter to the next one abruptly. The best way is to rewrite the content. This takes time but it makes the content unique. If you do not want to rewrite it by yourself, you always can hire a ghostwriter to do this.

Finding that free content from the 'Public Domain' so you can post it on your Blog or Website is what you are saying. Right?

You could make Articles, Landing Pages, and other content.

Default A new idea for using public domain

I went to buy my son a birthday card yesterday and saw something I've not seen before ...birthday cards with content from the public domain.

They cost around $13 (£8) and there was a card for each year from around 1940 to (at least) 1980, which was the year my son was born. On the outside, the cards had images of snippets of newspapers etc. from the specific year of the card (ie. 1980 in my son's case) and inside the card was a dvd with an hours worth of music, data and video, all from 1980.

I thought this was a brilliant idea.

You can do this also with public domain material/ content - and sell things like cards, calendars, artwork and posters with print-on-demand service providers like http://www.cafepress.com/ or http://www.lulu.com/ .

It's no surprise to me that so many posts, comments, and questions that I see on the Warrior forum are from newbies trying to figure out ways to make some extra money online. And I got to thinking, I've generated VERY fast money online doing things that any newbie or experienced marketer can do.

Feeling inspired by a large new deal that literally fell into my lap, I wanted to share a few models that either myself or my past customers have used to being in money FAST doing things that really anyone can do.

Case study 1: Public Domain content + WordPress blog = $3,000 profit in 45 days.

Something like that can be done 1,000,000 times. There's no end to the content needed to make this happen. All I did was find 3 public domain books in one of the 23 best-selling niches I've identified, and then set up a niche WordPress blog.

I then copied and pasted the content of that book over a period of 45 days doing 1 to 3 posts a day. I also posted my affiliate links to related books on Amazon, ClickBank, and Commission Junction. And of course, AdSense. After 45 days I listed the blog for sale and it very quickly sold for a little over $3,000.

This is a model that anyone can follow. It's dead-simple. If you're a worker, you can develop one of these sites a day and use the automated blog posting feature in WordPress to post your content to free up your time.

Once your bankroll builds, you can do what I do, and that's outsource 99% of the work. Once you're cranking out 3-5 of these sites every single day, you can imagine what starts to happen after 45 days if all you want to do is flip these sites. I won't even post what your earnings look like even selling the sites for just $1000 after 45 days.

Do the math. It works and it's proven.

I also "mini-flip" niche blogs with Public Domain content in as little as 3 days:

I compile 1 or 2 public domain books, let´s say about "public speaking", I choose a killer free WP theme, split the content into 21 blog posts, setup the adsense and all the rest, and then sell the blog 3 days later, for anything between $200 to $600...

Not bad for 60 minutes of work.

Of course, I have a system setup, and all I do is just to select the public domain books. All the rest is outsourced for dirt-cheap.

Remember that:

1. Most people are lazy.

2. Not everybody knows and/or wants to setup a blog (or anything) and fill it with good content (from the mighty Public Domain).

Your content is great (written by great authors, not PLR-crap ghostwriters)... and hardly indexed.

3. Therefore, there are lots of eager buyers ready to buy...

Case study 2: Setting up a 900-page AdSense site with Public Domain articles. Sold for $1,500 in 30 days.

A student of mine needed money quickly and wanted to do a quick flip. All he did was copy and paste 3 public domain books into a site - 900 pages of Public Domain content, added his AdSense ads, and then put the site up for sale. Sold the site for $1,500.

Of course, he used software to automate the page building.

You can of course make much more by holding onto these types of websites and building an empire (heck, now he flips 5 sites like that each month), but sometimes you need money fast and you can do these quick flips any time you need to.

Case study 3: Public Domain Halloween images + mini site = $3,000 profit in 19 days.

I found a bunch of old Halloween images that were in the public domain.

All I did was package them up, wrote a couple of paragraphs about what is included, showed a few examples, and offered the whole package of images with full rights for $17. Sold 203 packages in October. Spent $300 on a few ads, total profit: Over $3,000.

Total time it took me to put the above together - about 3 hours max.

You can build thousands of these sites in tens of thousands of niches. The above is the smallest one I have. A similar site I have where I used the same method makes MUCH more than this all the time. I'm just saying this so you know you can use the above method any time of the year. Not just Holidays.

Case study 4: Student searches Government website, compiles its Public Domain material, makes $2,000 first month.

This is a great overlooked niche: Student Loans.

A student friend of mine put together an ebook about student loans. He obtained all of the information from a BIG public domain supplier who spits out tons (millions) of content... the US Government!

Took him a few days to put everything together, made over $2,000 profit first month, $5,000 the second month - and continues to sell ebooks like crazy. Where does he sell it? On FaceBook and student forums.

Yes, someone could have easily done all of the research and got the info for free themselves, but there is a TON of money to be made packaging up Public Domain content and information that anyone could obtain and selling it for massive profits.

The above are just some small case studies to show you some quick ways you can make money with Public Domain as fast as TODAY.

Of course there are stories about $10,000 here, $100,000 there, and even millions, but I know if I shared some of those stories with you, most of you wouldn't think it's possible.

The above numbers are small, so it's easy for you to say, "yes, I can do that", and then you do.

As you start making money with Public Domain, and as more and more rolls in, you set your goals higher... and before you know it, making $50,000 profit in a month for a few hours of work doesn't scare you any more.

PS: you will discover more Case Studies, insights and answers to Warriors questions throughout this entire thread.

All the best,
Kneb

Yeh...you are very correct. Good info...

Hey Guys, I just visited Giveaway of the Day and today they're offering free software that will convert PDF files into editable MS Word Documents, Rich Text Documents, Plain Text Files, Images, HTML Files, and Shockwave Flash SWF Files. Perfect I'm sure for PD stuff that's in PDF format. Of course the catch is, it's only good for another 15 hours from now then it expires.

ALSO, when you download it make sure to install it on your computer and also register it before the offer ends or it's no good. You'll find the registration key in the readme.txt file. Hope this helps!

Before you download, read all comments regarding the program - especially the negative comments because they usually come from users who used the program a bit more. That keeps you from getting surpises.

I just wanted to give a quick report with my status on the case study that I'm doing. I am about half way through fixing my book. I downloaded it from Gutenberg.org, and they hard-code the carriage returns, which means that I have to go in and remove them to get the text to look the way it should.

I figure that in about 2 weeks, I should be able to have the book uploaded to Amazon. At that time, I will also upload it to Kindle, as well as starting the blog posting.

Of course, he used software to automate the page building.

You can of course make much more by holding onto these types of websites and building an empire (heck, now he flips 5 sites like that each month), but sometimes you need money fast and you can do these quick flips any time you need to.
3 questions:

1. is it just a site, and each page has some different content on it, with adsense? If so, 900 pages!?!?!?!

2. What are the 21 golden niches

3. What software did he use?

thanks a bunch!

Mubarak

1. Yes, it's just a simple site and each page has content on it. You could do this with adsense, Amazon links, Clickbank links related to your niche, or any other affiliate product that fits the niche.

Imagine if you used Adsense and could average $.01 per page per month... That's $9.00 per month for the site. get 10 sites like this and you're close to being paid each month by Google.

2. You will find the answer to that in Kneb's WSO.

3. You can use different software for this. Somebody mentioned HyperVRE, and there are more that will take a text file and break it up into separate pages for you. You just have to do a little bit of research to find them.

I figure that in about 2 weeks, I should be able to have the book uploaded to Amazon. At that time, I will also upload it to Kindle, as well as starting the blog posting.

Just my 2 cents: There is a blog post on Mashable.com entitled 20+ Places for Public Domain E-Books that you all should check out. It has A LOT of great sources for PD books. Also, just Google Public Domain and start there.
