Hey guys, I've seen several requests from people to be involved in coaching. No matter what Kneb ends up doing, make sure you don't sit back and wait for somebody to come up to you and tell you what to do.

Take the information that you got, and take action. Just start doing something to get you on track. Make it a personal challenge, and be your own coach. There's enough information in this thread and in Kneb's book (that most have purchased), that you don't have any excuse to not start now.

If you're still hung up on how to get started, take a look at your situation and figure out what you can do now.

Do you have any money to use? Look on worldcat.org to find some books in the niche that you want to target. You may be able to find those books available at abebooks.com for as little as $1. You might even just find them at archive.org or books.google.com. Get the book onto your computer somehow in a text format. If you have a scanner, then scan the pages and use OCR software. If you don't, then you can attempt to type them in yourself (this could take a while). Maybe you can pay somebody to do this for you. Timo (tj) will do it for a very reasonable fee (under $100), and doesn't have to take the book apart.
Buy a domain name and build a site around your material. It doesn't cost much to self-publish through Amazon. Upload your book there and post it for sale on your blog. Do all the normal stuff that you would do to get people to your site.

You can also buy old photo books and scan the photos, then sell them digitally or as prints. Print several of them out and rent out a booth at your town's next festival. Post them online for sale and ship them to people. Talk to a consignment shop about placing a few of your items for sale.

You can do all of this stuff too, even if you don't have any money to spend. Find images on the government sites that you can market. Download books from archive.org and books.google.com instead of purchasing them.

There are so many ways to make money in this thread using public domain materials, I'm just afraid that 90% of the people who posted (I want to be in the coaching) are just going to be sitting there waiting.

Start researching your niches, start gathering materials, start researching keywords. Just make sure you're doing something other than waiting. If you just keep waiting, you're never going to make it online. Even if you fail at your first attempt, at least then you'll know what not to do the next time. After doing some more research, I found the answer to my question. Let's call it the 'duh!' factor. Meaning that there may be sites where you can upload your free ebook and hope someone takes an interest and downloads it. But, the best way is to use the routine marketing stuff like putting excerpts into articles (bum marketing) with links back to your site, or using social bookmarking and the other methods for backlinks to a download on your site. Hope this helps someone.

I have been reading Kneb's WSO all day... When I first saw that it was 280 pages.. I started to put it off until later.. Man I'm glad I didn't.. this is by far the best WSO I've ever purchased..

He makes it so easy to read and even lay's out the niches and authors name's you should start with (highly profitable) and there's also a ton of great direct links to the stuff he uses..

all this said .. I'm only about halfway thru..

Amazing post Kneb. I do flipping sites on sitepoint marketplace. I already sold a lot of sites there (especially membership sites). Until I read this post I never consider to use public domain content on my sites. I ordered you WSO few month ago and just left it on my hard disk. I think your post here opened my eyes and I should take some time to go through your ebook immediately.

I have now got a plan for a project that i am going to share with you along with the step by step action plan and my progress.

Firstly i would like to say thanks to Kneb. Not only for the best WSO i have ever seen but for the support he detailed answers
ideas and support that he provides. Without this i would still be trying to decide what to do and how to go about it.
If you haven't yet purchased this WSO then you will be sorry.

Here we go.

The project plan (that i started with)

1. Choose a niche

2. find pd content for niche

3. create a wp blog

4. sell the blog

That is the overall plan. Now i will share the action plan based on the above and my progress so far.

1. Choose a niche.
Progress (completed)

I have decided on a very popular niche

2. Find public domain content for niche
progress (completed)

From the information in Kneb's WSO i have found 3
pd books realated to my niche.

3.Create a free ebook to giveaway.
Progress (almost completed)
Left to do create graphics for the cover, add this to the
begining of the word doc, write conclusion and convert to pdf.

I decided to create a free ebook to giveaway to help
build a list for my niche.

I decided to focus the free book on one specific topic
relating to my niche and gathered the information from
the 3 books i found.

4. Prepare blog post for site

Progress (50% completed)

I decided to use one of the pd books i found as blog
post for my site. I am creating these in a txt file
so that they can just be copied and pasted into post
when i create the blog.

5 Create an AR series to use for follow up.
Progress (not started yet)

I decided to use one of the other pd books as an AR
series for this project.

6. Create graphics for the site.(not yet started)

7. Purchase a domain name and create a wp blog.
Progress (not yet ready to start this bit)

Once i have compiled all the information together
i will purchase a domain and create the blog and
setup post to be posted with the content.

8. Put site up for sale.

Summary

I just want you all to know that up until this morning
all i had was the niche i wanted to use and found the
pd content for that niche. The rest came about after
recieving a reply back from Kneb. So i got to work.
As i have no funds at the moment i am doing all the
work myself.

Out of the 3 books i found all public domain

2 will be used for blog posts
1 will be used for AR series

and pieces from all 3 were used for the free book.

Hope this helps anyone who is still wondering what
can be done with public domain content.

I will keep you all updated with this project.

My question to Kneb was, Do you have to be concerned about some of the niche books he has suggested in the book having a LARGE amount of searches on Google? I didn't check Yahoo since Google gets 70% of the traffic. I found the popular Authors mentioned are well represented in the search engines already. Kneb asked that I post this question here, I added his reply.

Kneb's Reply:

You don´t have to worry about if those books are already on Google or not.

You have to "worry" (ie, focus) on presenting them in a different and better format: killer ecovers, great images inside, and great fonts and good-looking-reading-taste...

Then you can offer the books for free in exchange of optins to your email list.

If you want to go for the split-book-into-blog-posts path, just do it anyways. But be sure to find some other books not indexed yet, and mix the articles/blogposts with brand new ones, written by you or outsourced.

Then make sure you choose a good-looking and professional theme for your blog (not the usual one 80% bloogers use).

Personally I would not sell the list since repeated customers orders are priceless ... or you have to tie that somehow in into the selling price of the site.

Google gives out-of-print books a new life online!
MOUNTAIN VIEW, California: Ben Zimmer, executive producer of a Web site and software package called the Visual Thesaurus, was seeking the earliest use of the phrase "you're not the boss of me." Using a newspaper database, he had found a reference from 1953.

But while using Google's book search recently, he found the phrase in a short story contained in "The Church," a periodical published in 1883 and scanned from the Bodleian Library at Oxford.
Ever since Google began scanning printed books four years ago, scholars and others with specialized interests have been able to tap a trove of information that had been locked away on the dusty shelves of libraries and in antiquarian bookstores.
According to Dan Clancy, the engineering director for Google book search, every month users view at least 10 pages of more than half of the one million out-of-copyright books that Google has scanned into its servers.

Google's book search "allows you to look for things that would be very difficult to search for otherwise," said Zimmer, whose site is visualthesaurus.com.

Yes, Google has already indexed a ton of public domain works. There are so many more out there, that they haven't gotten to yet, though.

If Google says it's public domain, chances are very good that it is. If they don't have it, that doesn't mean that it's not up for grabs.

I am browsing Google's Book search right now as a matter of fact.

They now have magazines. In the market I have selected, I found a Home & Garden magazine from 1918 that has a ton of info in it, not to mention vintage ads.

I have found with Google book search that if they display the entire book, it is most likely in the public domain - but still perform your due diligence.

I cannot believe how exciting this is. I am devising a 30 day action plan that I will break down into daily "To-Do" tasks. I have identified a niche, and have found at least 3 ways I can monetize it (More ways keep popping into my head as I go along - I have already filled up 3 sheets of paper with ideas)

This is WAY better than throwing together a review site of some Clickbank products.

There is so much information and it is quite difficult to pick just a few works. It really is a treasure trove of information.

OH MY GOSH! I am so glad I found this forum and this thread. This is only my 4th day browsing here, I can't believe the amount of info and the number of resources that are listed in this thread!!! I am a complete newbie to IM, I have only one Squidoo lens and a Blogger blog that I have started as experiments to get my feet wet. The info in this thread is WAY better than any of the free ebooks I have downloaded (and there's a lot of them - I am on TOO MANY mailing lists!).

Just an idea, I may get shot for even suggesting this, but...

Why couldn't someone just compile the techniques and resources that are posted in this thread, and create an ebook (or two!) from this thread alone? Not necessarily to be sold, but as a bonus product, or to give out to their mailing list? Would that be frowned upon?

I confess to copying and pasting the posts I found most interesting into a Word document for viewing offline, without having to sift through the well-deserved "attaboys" and repeat questions.

There's nothing to stop anybody from doing that, but ask yourself this; What will you answer when people start asking questions about proof of income, and specific explanations of the steps?

If you do, however, take the steps and make money, and can answer all the questions, then by all means, you have a product that you can back up.

Well, you could do it...

But you will have to be sure to give (include) proper credit to the authors here, not just me, but all the Warriors who are contributing...

As you would do in your own site or blog, if you include articles from other authors, you HAVE to include their "resource box" (name of the author + link to his site)...

TJ nailed it.. Kneb's WSO is by far the best investment I've made toward my Internet Marketing business..

His book really gets you thinking.. so many way's to use the public domain information he gives you..

I'm thinking of applying his PD information on websites to drive "targeted" traffic in several area's:
Adsense
Affiliate (clickbank)
CPA (real hot subject right now)

If anyone's put a mind map together on how to apply this to a "Free" CPA campaign.. I would love to hear from you... I've got several Ideas myself... but it would be great to hear from someone with some experience with PD and CPA offers...

The main thing I can't really get a handle on is the were to put the opt-in ... would love to build - Traffic - List - CPA or Affiliate income.. all at one time..

I am seriously considering purchasing Kneb's WSO, but I suffer from "information overload" and "paralysis by analysis" already. I have ebooks from others that I haven't found time to read yet as it is. Plus I keep seeing people say, "Stop reading ebooks and GET STARTED instead!".

Referring to my original post, I am not planning on creating an ebook out of this thread, I just thought somebody could do it if they wanted to, with no claims as to any income or results. Heck, I don't have a website or a mailing list to send an ebook to (yet), and I am not interested in selling to the internet marketing niche anyway. I just am amazed at the amount of quality information that is contained in this thread, it is not the same old rehashed stuff I have seen from so many other sources.

even if you do not plan to sell in the Internet Marketing Area, it would be a great advantage for you to use the information and content found in the public domain. For instance the information put out by the US goverment that are to a great percentage in the public domain. I made a sample what you could use if you were in the Credit Card Niche. It is in the public domain published by the Federal Reserve Board and you can download it here at

There is so much information in this thread, that if you're interested in starting out with public domain, you could use it as a stepping stone to Kneb's book. Do things right (and get a little lucky) and you could possibly even earn enough money to purchase the book by using what you learn here.

As you said, though, the most important thing is to do something. Reading and reading without taking any action may make you feel like you're accomplishing something, but it sure won't make your wallet any fatter.

Kneb, I can't thank you enough for this WSO. I bought it yesterday (after a few days of indecision) but I have already set up a WordPress Blog on a previously unused domain, utilised some Public Domain content, and when I checked my Adsense account this morning I have already started earning from it (only small, but hey it's a great start!!). I plan to make new posts to my blog on a daily basis, and it couldn't be easier - just cut and paste and I've got top quality relevant content on my blog!

I feel as if I have learned and achieved more in the last 24 hours than I have in weeks, due to previous information overload. I have set aside all my other 'how to make money from the internet' guides/ebooks etc (of which there are many) and I now have total focus and know for certain that I am going to achieve financial success online this year.

To anyone who is still sitting on the fence and wondering whether or not to buy Kneb's WSO, all I can say is GO FOR IT - you certainly won't regret it, and every moment you spend thinking about it is delaying your online success.

Yes, 99% of the .gov content is in the public domain...

And the most profitable niches out there has nothing to do with IM...

Just by using the PD content that US Government publishes every year, you (anyone) can build a solid business from it.

A fellow Warrior (he don´t want to be mentioned) has built a blog farm related to financial topics: credit card issues, employment, government grants, foreclosures, legal forms, etc... (they are desperate buyers).

And he is making $10,000+ month just by selling short reports and legal forms for $10 a piece (all in the public domain)...

There´s also a famous site that keeps doing the same for years, and making way more than that...

Hey guys. I have set up a blog with PD content. It seems like in one of the early posts it was mentioned that you can set up wordpress to post automatically at a certain time. I am using WordPress 2.7. Does anyone know of a plugin that will let me do this?

When you publish your post in your blog, you have there the option to schedule it for a later time. For that is no plugin needed. But in the Special Offer Part of the forum you can buy in the moment a plugin that let's you do that.

Hi.

You don't need a plugin for that.

Go to the post session and click new post.

Find this: Publish immediately Edit, and click the edit button.

Than you get a calender feature, where you can decide when you want to publish your post.

Hope this helps.

PS. There is a plugin called "zip poster" that can do this for you, but that plugin is not free, and is suitable when you want to set up a huge amount of post for the future.

That's what I'm planning to do once I get my site up. I am on page 29 of about 700 with the book, though, so I'm trying to figure out if I should start posting anyway, or wait until I have the book ready to publish at Amazon.

Do we get referral commissions from Kindle products? There are already a few copies of the book there in Kindle form, so maybe I could just earn a commission until I get my product finished and can start earning my own royalties instead.

So much info on here. I am going to read the book at the weekend. I am good at generating traffic for sites. But have been working on client sites. What i really want to do is work on my own sites but have struggled with content. Looking forward to getting a few sites up around this content, so I can even just improve my traffic generating skills.

Amazon has a affiliate program, so I assume that you will get also a small percentage if you point a link to Kindle books. However, since most of the books are "only" in the price range of 3-9$ and Amazon takes already out 60% of the amount, you would need a lot of people buying kindle books through your affiliate link. The Kindle however would be a other point to discuss about

No matter what Kneb ends up doing, make sure you don't sit back and wait for somebody to come up to you and tell you what to do. Take the information that you got, and take action. Just start doing something to get you on track. Make it a personal challenge, and be your own coach. There's enough information in this thread and in Kneb's book (that most have purchased), that you don't have any excuse to not start now. If you're still hung up on how to get started, take a look at your situation and figure out what you can do now. Do you have any money to use? Look on worldcat.org to find some books in the niche that you want to target. You may be able to find those books available at abebooks.com for as little as $1. You might even just find them at archive.org or books.google.com. Get the book onto your computer somehow in a text format. If you have a scanner, then scan the pages and use OCR software. If you don't, then you can attempt to type them in yourself (this could take a while). Maybe you can pay somebody to do this for you. Timo (tj) will do it for a very reasonable fee (under $100), and doesn't have to take the book apart. Buy a domain name and build a site around your material. It doesn't cost much to self-publish through Amazon. Upload your book there and post it for sale on your blog. Do all the normal stuff that you would do to get people to your site. You can also buy old photo books and scan the photos, then sell them digitally or as prints. Print several of them out and rent out a booth at your town's next festival. Post them online for sale and ship them to people. Talk to a consignment shop about placing a few of your items for sale. You can do all of this stuff too, even if you don't have any money to spend. Find images on the government sites that you can market. Download books from archive.org and books.google.com instead of purchasing them. There are so many ways to make money in this thread using public domain materials, I'm just afraid that 90% of the people who posted (I want to be in the coaching) are just going to be sitting there waiting. Start researching your niches, start gathering materials, start researching keywords. Just make sure you're doing something other than waiting. If you just keep waiting, you're never going to make it online. Even if you fail at your first attempt, at least then you'll know what not to do the next time. But if you just wait for somebody to tell you what to do, then you're never going to get anywhere. Don't know what niche to pursue? Read through Kneb's book again and see if there's one in there that piques your interest. Look on ebay to see what's selling. I found a great niche on ebay, just by finding a book at a great price that I decided to purchase. I've started working on a plan for how to make my money with it, but it's a niche that I never would have come up with on my own.

I decided to create a free ebook to giveaway to help build a list for my niche. I decided to focus the free book on one specific topic relating to my niche and gathered the information from the 3 books i found. 4. Prepare blog post for site Progress (50% completed) I decided to use one of the pd books i found as blog post for my site. I am creating these in a txt file so that they can just be copied and pasted into post when i create the blog. 5 Create an AR series to use for follow up. Progress (not started yet) I decided to use one of the other pd books as an AR series for this project. 6. Create graphics for the site.(not yet started) 7. Purchase a domain name and create a wp blog. Progress (not yet ready to start this bit) Once i have compiled all the information together i will purchase a domain and create the blog and setup post to be posted with the content. 8. Put site up for sale. Summary I just want you all to know that up until this morning all i had was the niche i wanted to use and found the pd content for that niche. The rest came about after recieving a reply back from Kneb. So i got to work. As i have no funds at the moment i am doing all the work myself. Out of the 3 books i found all public domain 2 will be used for blog posts 1 will be used for AR series and pieces from all 3 were used for the free book. I didn't check Yahoo since Google gets 70% of the traffic. I found the popular Authors mentioned are well represented in the search engines already. Kneb asked that I post this question here, I added his reply. Kneb's Reply: You don´t have to worry about if those books are already on Google or not. You have to "worry" (ie, focus) on presenting them in a different and better format: killer ecovers, great images inside, and great fonts and good-looking-reading-taste... Then you can offer the books for free in exchange of optins to your email list. If you want to go for the split-book-into-blog-posts path, just do it anyways. But be sure to find some other books not indexed yet, and mix the articles/blogposts with brand new ones, written by you or outsourced. Then make sure you choose a good-looking and professional theme for your blog (not the usual one 80% bloogers use). Hope this helps. If Google says it's public domain, chances are very good that it is. If they don't have it, that doesn't mean that it's not up for grabs.

Real Warrior case study I am browsing Google's Book search right now as a matter of fact. They now have magazines. In the market I have selected, I found a Home & Garden magazine from 1918 that has a ton of info in it, not to mention vintage ads. I have found with Google book search that if they display the entire book, it is most likely in the public domain - but still perform your due diligence. I cannot believe how exciting this is. I am devising a 30 day action plan that I will break down into daily "To-Do" tasks. I have identified a niche, and have found at least 3 ways I can monetize it (More ways keep popping into my head as I go along - I have already filled up 3 sheets of paper with ideas) This is WAY better than throwing together a review site of some Clickbank products. There is so much information and it is quite difficult to pick just a few works. It really is a treasure trove of information.

The info in this thread is WAY better than any of the free ebooks I have downloaded (and there's a lot of them - I am on TOO MANY mailing lists!). Just an idea, I may get shot for even suggesting this, but... Why couldn't someone just compile the techniques and resources that are posted in this thread, and create an ebook (or two!) from this thread alone? Not necessarily to be sold, but as a bonus product, or to give out to their mailing list? Would that be frowned upon? I confess to copying and pasting the posts I found most interesting into a Word document for viewing offline, without having to sift through the well-deserved "attaboys" and repeat questions. Real Warrior case study TJ nailed it.. Kneb's WSO is by far the best investment I've made toward my Internet Marketing business.. His book really gets you thinking.. so many way's to use the public domain information he gives you.. I'm thinking of applying his PD information on websites to drive "targeted" traffic in several area's: Adsense Affiliate (clickbank) CPA (real hot subject right now) If anyone's put a mind map together on how to apply this to a "Free" CPA campaign.. I would love to hear from you... I've got several Ideas myself... but it would be great to hear from someone with some experience with PD and CPA offers... The main thing I can't really get a handle on is the were to put the opt-in ... would love to build - Traffic - List - CPA or Affiliate income.. all at one time..

I bought it yesterday (after a few days of indecision) but I have already set up a WordPress Blog on a previously unused domain, utilised some Public Domain content, and when I checked my Adsense account this morning I have already started earning from it (only small, but hey it's a great start!!). I plan to make new posts to my blog on a daily basis, and it couldn't be easier - just cut and paste and I've got top quality relevant content on my blog! I feel as if I have learned and achieved more in the last 24 hours than I have in weeks, due to previous information overload. I have set aside all my other 'how to make money from the internet' guides/ebooks etc (of which there are many) and I now have total focus and know for certain that I am going to achieve financial success online this year. To anyone who is still sitting on the fence and wondering whether or not to buy Kneb's WSO, all I can say is GO FOR IT - you certainly won't regret it, and every moment you spend thinking about it is delaying your online success. I am on page 29 of about 700 with the book, though, so I'm trying to figure out if I should start posting anyway, or wait until I have the book ready to publish at Amazon. Do we get referral commissions from Kindle products? There are already a few copies of the book there in Kindle form, so maybe I could just earn a commission until I get my product finished and can start earning my own royalties instead.

What i really want to do is work on my own sites but have struggled with content. Looking forward to getting a few sites up around this content, so I can even just improve my traffic generating skills.
